To make the ergonomic shapes of the Ergodyne period Ibanez invented a new special material called "Luthite" for the body. The resonance is every bit as good as a heavy wood. It has a bolt on neck and as you would expect from Ibanez it has a narrow, fast neck and low action. Great for bassists with small hands and stubby fingers like me 
It has 3 band EQ consisting of bass, middle and treble plus volume and blend. 5 controls in all. This bass can make a wide variety of sounds and is a good example of the EDB series.
