Offered here is a made in the USA Version One 1989 Fender Telecaster Plus Deluxe. Unlike the Telecaster Plus, the Plus Deluxe features Schaller locking tuners, a Wilkinson roller nut and a pop-in whammy bar. Also, unique to this beautiful guitar is a Joe Barden bridge pickup. You get improved high fidelity tone yet it maintains the as-designed ability to assign various combinations of the dual coils via the mini-toggle switch located between the tone and volume controls. I was told the mod was done by the Fender Custom Shop though I have no documents to confirm the work (the standard factory routing appears to be untouched). The original Dually Red Lace Sensor that the Barden pickup replaces is not included but the original Blue Lace Sensor neck pickup can be clearly seen in the pics. The finish is Ebony Frost which is essentially a transparent black burst with the slightest amount of metal flake. The photos tend to make the transparent area look a little warmer/browner than it actually appears in natural lighting. Everyone that sees it remarks about the rarity and beauty of the finish. Note: There is a faded signature on the pickguard by Gin Blossoms' drummer (the drummer?) John "The Kooze" Richardson signed back in 2005. There are a very few minor dings that you have to look hard to find. None are larger than approximately 1/16" by 3/16" but the annoying one is in the center of the neck where a properly placed thumb should be for chording at the first position. There are no buckle scratches to the finish on the back of the instrument. A professional luthier restrung it with D'Addario .009"s, polished the frets, oiled the fretboard and set the action super low and light on its straight neck. Case candy is minimal but includes a genuine leather strap and what I think is the original tensioner for the whammy-bridge mechanism. The whammy is set up quite stiff but holds tune over months of storage. "Plus" and "Deluxe" are Tele-terms kicked around a lot but this one is the real deal. Please feel free to ask any questions.
